Dear Runners and Walkers! How ironic that the day I decide to write my monthly letter, I wake up to six inches of snow! My dog Aussie thought it was terrific but having just knocked off my last long run (20+ in Savannah) in 70 degree weather, this seems cruel. On the upside (and here's my final plea to all of you) I have my eye fixed on the target for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the memory of my friend Jim Ulrich. Please help. Here's how: My minimum goal is $5600 ($100 for each year of his incredibly productive and interesting life). If you want to support this effort, send your $100 checks (or more, please!) made payable to: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5353 W. Dartmouth Ave, Suite 400, Denver, CO 80227. Note that it is in memory of Jim Ulrich and note that it is part of C. Kelley's TNT campaign. None of the revenue will go toward ANY of my expenses. You can also go on-line to www.leukemia-lymphoma.org, scroll down to designate "in memory of" Jim Ulrich and designate our chapter "CO - Rocky Mountain Chapter". Interestingly, I discovered from last month's note about Jim that Cathie Nicholson is doing the Rock N' Roll Marathon in San Diego in June also in memory of her friend...also Jim Ulrich! So I urge you to support either or both of these fundraising efforts. Here's her TNT page link: http://www.active.com/donate/tntrm/tntrmCNichol2 Back to my musings about training for my first marathon in 10 years...frankly, in the final month of preparation, we runners become "over the top" obsessed. My latest is whether to try an energy gu for the first time (yes, I'll try it in training in the next ten days but you'd think I'd already have this figured out!). But there is humor and a light side to all of this...Renee Hamilton introduced me to a gut-funny novel that you have to read: The Other Shulman. If you have ever run in the ING New York City Marathon or hope to someday, this is your next read! The link below gets you more info! Take a look at our updated web site www.bkbltd.com. Our calendar and results pages are searchable and it's all thanks to our partnership in Q Racing Group with the collaboration of Coreen Sterritt and Josh Drew. Enjoy the Spring races in April and get your team signed up for Colfax www.coloradocolfaxmarathon.org! Have fun this month and see you on the roads!
