2007 July E-Newsletter

Dear Athletes!

A big thanks to those of you that signed up as a volunteer for Iron Girl on July 1st...A+ effort for a wonderful cause!

As we pound out the miles in this hot weather, just seek out the experts at the running stores and in the various running and coaching groups. They know the answers and are happy and willing to share.

Many of you are heading up to Copper Mountain this month to the US Half Marathon, 12K ,and 5K. Check out their special paragraph below my letter. With a concert it should be a nice vacation getaway especially after some of these super hot days along the front range.

As a member of the board of the Prestige Miracles Foundation I urge you to support their Miles for Miracles 5K for the Children's Hospital Foundation at Invesco Field on Sunday, July 22nd! The essentially flat course is modeled after the fun Stadium Stampede. Here's a link: www.prestigemiraclesfoundation.com

As I reported in last month's E-Newsletter, the debut of IPICO Sports chip timing at Bolder Boulder www.ipicosports.com was amazing and was further solidified in June at a major event, the Steamboat Classic 4M on June 19th in Illinois. There definitely is a new alternative to existing chip timing, for those of you that follow the industry!

The September PACE Governor's Cup 5k/10k in Denver may be on hold due to the loss of some critical sponsorship at the last minute. It's an expensive race due to police and venue costs, and the Prostate Cancer Education Council needs sponsors to step up with at least $10,000 to make it viable on September 16th. Interested? Contact Mary Hutchison by July 12th at PCEC 303-316-4685, or www.pcaw.com, for more information.

Those of you that have heard "rumors" about some major, positive changes being considered for the 2008 Colorado Colfax Marathon, have heard correctly. What changes? Stay tuned!!  And this October has a new event by the American Lung Association, Run the 'Rocks 1 Mile at Red Rocks on October 14.  Visit www.lungcolorado.org

Finally, there is a terrific newsletter that you can subscribe to electronically that I've neglected to mention but is always well-written and informative. Check out my favorite web site of the month below!

Have a great July, enjoy all the races and run and walk safely, please!

We had 1000 third grade children draw  what they thought a “Miracle” is to them.  We will have all 1000 pictures up at the run and the winner is the photo on our t-shirts this year.  We gave the student a $100 savings bond and $100 to their art department.

Improved Performance & Rapid Recovery

A.C.T. – the new sports performance and recovery drink that is stirring up the athletic community! The drink works at a cellular level to enable increased performance and endurance, supports rapid recovery, and is easy on the stomach and the wallet!  No crashing or fatigue problems. A slow steady energy supply, just the best for endurance sports!

Read what runner Lorraine Hardaway from Florida has to say about A.C.T. “Using A.C.T., I am amazed at the energy I have for my training runs and especially my races. I was drinking water or Gatorade previously before a race or workout and I can tell a big difference in my energy level. The biggest difference I feel is in endurance. Usually after an hour or so I get tired and the last two long races (Nashville half and Minnie marathon 15K at Disney) I finished with almost as much energy as when I started. My recovery has also been better than before I used A.C.T.”  Lorraine has just improved her half marathon PR by 12 minutes after using A.C.T. for just one month!

* Special offer for BKB subscribers: Get a free sample and a coupon good for 10 additional free drinks when you place your first order – a $15 value – free!  http://sportsrecoverydrink.com/freesample

* Every BKB subscriber who purchases A.C.T. will also be making a contribution to the Kipture Primary School Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit (Federal Tax Exempt EIN Number is 47-0935210). The library is completed, the kitchen is 3/4 completed and the power generator has arrived, all thanks to your generosity! We sill need $12,000 to complete the first essential projects. Watch for our new web site www.kiptureschool.org
