Dear Athletes!
June has arrived with new races, new training goals and just plain fun! Please take a glance at the highlighted ones listed after my epistle (don't forget clicking onto my fav web site!)! I'm going to cover three items that were fun (or will be!) so please "speed read" to see if I can pique your interest:
1. Kendall Williams (a personal friend who is a riser at Merrill Lynch) is vying for the title on "Man of the Year!" in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society statewide competition. Here's the deal: In the spring of every year a spirited campaign called "The Man & Woman of the Year" is held and Kendall is a nominee along with six other candidates. The key to winning the title is, you guessed it, raising the most money for the LLS. Kendall has a special reason for taking on the challenge: his grandfather's life was taken as a result of lymphoma and it hit home. From his personal experience, he learned the hard truth that these diseases afflict many good people in our society and often times they result in the passing of loved ones. Most tragically, those most heavily affected are young children. The good news is that the funds collected from this campaign will contribute to tremendous advances in combating the diseases. Kendall's goal is to raise $2,000 before June 9, 2007 to support the cause. Your donation is tax deductible. If you commit to writing a check payable to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, he will make sure to personally deliver it. For those of you who would rather donate online, his website is: www.active.com/donate/rmmwoy06/rmKWillia. You can call him at 303-446-5508.
2. Next, a perfect opportunity for guys to step up and volunteer to work at the RYKA Iron Girl 5K and 5 Mile on July 1st in downtown Denver. Iron Girl empowers women toward a healthy lifestyle. Iron Girl is an attitude, not a distance! We are looking for guys to volunteer (to let the women of all ages participate) and help with this amazing event for the expo June 30th and race day July 1st. We need your help to make this another successful event! If you're ready to jump in and help, please contact Keri Naccarato or leave her a message at 303-694-2202.
The focus of the Iron Girl events is to create top-notch quality women’s events. Iron Girl provides women with a competitive platform; one that showcases seasoned athletes and novices alike. We encourage performance by offering challenging race courses and event camaraderie. Iron Girl wants women to embrace a healthy lifestyle and aim to achieve their personal bests.
3. Bill Michaels is getting a well-deserved honor from the induction ceremony of the Colorado Running Hall of Fame at the DAC last month. Here's the link to the story in case you missed it www.denverpost.com.
4. And, congrats to the Bolder Boulder and Cliff Bosley for an innovative and ultimately very successful launch of a new timing process! After discovering that the deluge of data overwhelmed the site, they methodically re-managed the data. I've learned that the anomaly has been overcome and reprogrammed. Who knew that SO MUCH info would be available? Watch for IPICO Sports to start showing up nationwide. I think Cliff learned the art of risk-taking from his Dad, Steve!
So enjoy the races that are coming up especially take note of the three that will start and finish at Invesco Field: Stadium Stampede 5K on June 17th, the Miles For Miracles 5K on July 22nd, and the Fans on the Field 5/10K on August 19th!

Improved Performance & Rapid Recovery

A.C.T. – the new sports performance and recovery drink that is stirring up the athletic community! The drink works at a cellular level to enable increased performance and endurance, supports rapid recovery, and is easy on the stomach and the wallet! No crashing or fatigue problems. A slow steady energy supply, just the best for endurance sports!
Read what runner Lorraine Hardaway from Florida has to say about A.C.T.:
“Using A.C.T., I am amazed at the energy I have for my training runs and especially my races. I was drinking water or Gatorade previously before a race or workout and I can tell a big difference in my energy level. The biggest difference I feel is in endurance. Usually after an hour or so I get tired and the last two long races (Nashville half and Minnie marathon 15K at Disney) I finished with almost as much energy as when I started. My recovery has also been better than before I used A.C.T.”
Lorraine has just improved her half marathon PR by 12 minutes after using A.C.T. for just one month!
A.C.T. uses natural ingredients to deliver energy, and helps your cells perform at their very best, and contains no caffeine anhydrous. It has only 22 calories, 5 net carbs and 4 grams of sweetener (natural Stevia) per serving. With A.C.T., you won’t have that jittery buzz; you'll feel great and ready to take on the world.
* Special offer for BKB subscribers: Get a free sample and a coupon good for 10 additional free drinks when you place your first order – a $15 value – free! http://sportsrecoverydrink.com/freesample
