Dear Athletes!
Just finished 5 days in Cozumel with a decent run each day (no hurricane). It brought back wonderful memories of the three years of the Cozumel Marathon and Half Marathon! There are people interested in it being staged again so we'll see.
Thanks to our friend Brad Cooper at US Corporate Wellness, we'll feature a fitness update each month. Let me know what you think!
Maybe I’ll see you at the FASB Fitness Festival 5K this weekend!

Improved Performance & Rapid Recovery
A.C.T.
– the new sports performance and recovery drink that is stirring up the
athletic community! The drink works at a cellular level to enable increased performance and endurance, supports rapid recovery, and is easy on the
stomach and the wallet! No crashing or fatigue problems. A slow steady
energy supply, just the best for endurance sports!
Read what runner Lorraine Hardaway from Florida has to say about A.C.T.: “Using A.C.T., I am amazed at the energy I have for my training runs and especially my races. I was drinking water or Gatorade previously before a race or workout and I can tell a big difference in my energy level. The biggest difference I feel is in endurance. Usually after an hour or so I get tired and the last two long races I finished with almost as much energy as when I started. My recovery has also been better than before I used A.C.T.” Lorraine has just improved her half marathon PR by 12 minutes after using A.C.T. for just one month!

The Wellness Wizard
We're runners. We run... and run... and run.
At least until we get hurt (and then we usually STILL try to run). And unfortunately, for some runners, injuries occur far too often. But it doesn't have to be that way. Take the following into account in your training and you may experience "No Pain... Mo' Gain!"
· Use that journal. There are many benefits to journaling, but two primary ones are to review mileage/intensity at the end of each week and look for kinks in the armor. The second is the ability to look BACK several weeks if you do experience an injury (trends, overloads, etc).
· Mix it up. I know - we already covered this. We're runners. We run! But interestingly enough, you're likely to find that trading out a couple of days of cycling for your easy run days (keep the high intensity days in there) will reduce your chances of injury significantly, and likely make you even faster. Try it.
· Splish Splash! Feeling a bit of an ache? Jump in the water and do your same running workout in the deep end. If you include some intervals, you'll still get a decent workout in, but your joints will thank you. And that little ache? If you caught it on day 1, it may fade away with a couple of days in the water.
Keep in mind that the body can take a few days off with minimal to no changes in fitness levels. Catch that injury early and you'll be right back on track. Push through it too long and you may end up starting over completely. Take advantage of this physiological fact and you'll find yourself running better, faster and stronger.
